Public Transport
In recent years Ibiza has invested heavily in bringing its local transport network up to date, with the completion of this being summer 2008.
Public buses
Ibiza now offers a very reliable and frequent service offering connections from all major towns and resorts. In summer the buses start as early as 6am and continue up until midnight with the disco bus (see below) running throughout the night.. The buses are of a high standard and are excellent value for money. In the smaller resorts buses may only run once or twice a day so please check the times. In San Antonio town and bay there is also an all night bus service.
For up to date information we recommend asking your hotel reception upon arrival, often throughout the summer detailed timetables can be found in all major hotels. Time tables are also situated at the bus stops. For a link to the public bus companies web site please click here.
Disco bus
The discobus is a service primarily aimed at clubbers, with the route going from Ibiza Town to San Antonio, stopping at Privilege and Amnesia. It runs from around midnight until 7am with a slight rise in price from the day bus. The discobus is usually jam packed full and you may find yourself standing.
Taxis
Taxis on the island can carry up to 4 passengers so for smaller groups this can be a good way to get around. They operate on a meter system and taxis can be flagged down if they are displaying a green light at the top. In summer it can be very difficult to get a taxi especially from the airport. There is a small starting charge for taxis which increases at night, in all major resorts you will find a taxi rank. Please see our private transfers section.
Car Hire
For exploring the open road of Ibiza there is no better way than to hire a car! With numerous companies to choose from and a wide selection of vehicles you really can see all Ibiza has to offer. If you haven't already pre booked a car before you arrive then don't worry, almost every hotel / apartment offers car hire. Things to look out for when hiring a car are:-
Insurance (its worth paying that extra few euros for collision damage waiver - just in case)
24 hour breakdown or advice line
